Engagement Proposal Wedding and Lifestyle Photography
Well, it has only been 3 years since I started my Carmel Wedding Photography adventure...I would say it is ABOUT time I share a little more about my story. My plans and dreams to start my photography business came to fruition in January 2020. Several years in the making, with purpose, intention, and with the support of my loved ones, Delgado Photo Co is here. So much has changed in my life and in the world for that matter since January 2020. As we approach the removal of our local mask mandate, I am reflecting on what it was like when I first started my business. Who knew the world would face such challenges with the pandemic? I made the best of the extra time I was gifted when the world was forced to slow down and invested in furthering my photography education. I have to say, I am proud of how far I have come!
I have spent the last 3 years building and learning from the best photographers and photography educators in the industry, such as Kelley Williams, Abul Shah, KT Merry, Lucy Munoz, and Jeremy Chou just to name a few. I am THRILLED to be able to learn from other master photographers at Hybrid Co in Florida next month. Hybrid Co is a photography conference full of Master Classes and shoots that are created and curated specifically for digital, hybrid and film photographers. I am happy to invest in myself so I can give my best to my clients.
Last fall, I went through full branding and design with a wonderful and talented designer Lea from Said With Design. Most recently enjoyed an amazing experience having a branding photography session with the talented and lovely Amy Huang. It feels amazing to see it all coming together. As you can see from the images above, I have become more and more comfortable in front of the camera, BUT... my favorite place remains behind it.
Why I feel So Passionate About Photography
I have always had a passion for photography. For me, my artistry is another way of expressing my self and another way to be of service by assisting couples and families document their milestones. After graduating nursing school in 2005, and settling into life after college, I took my first formal photography course in 2009, I started shadowing and assisting other local photographers and worked my way up to second shooting. I had a deep desire to learn and a need for creativity. To be completely honest, I dreamed of going to school to study the art of photography and always envisioned myself photographing weddings, and owning my own studio. However, my path was a bit different. I am grateful I pursued a career in nursing...it led me to the love of my life in 2001 when I was hired at our local hospital. My 21 years in healthcare has given me the honor of serving others at their most vulnerable moments. It is also where I discovered my superpowers, which are knowing how to be present without being intrusive and being a calm presence during stormy moments.
What I love most about photography is that I can capture emotional and loving moments, that would otherwise exist only in a memory.
I am one of 9 siblings. Mother of 2, grandma of 2, and wife to the most honorable and loving man I know. And I can't forget our little grand-doggy Chiquilla.
I am the most loyal friend and have lifelong friendships. I feel quite blessed to have also developed incredible friendships on my photography journey.
We have visited France, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Czech Republic. Of all the places we have visited around the world...Big Sur is my favorite. 2024 list: Mexico and Italy.
I can't live without it. I have a friend who teases me because I have a playlist that has the widest variety of music from Disney's Little Mermaid to Mariachi music...and everything in between. Right now, I am loving JohnnySwim!
Just like music, I can't live without it. It has been a while since we have been to a museum. But I love exploring art exhibitions. Photographers, Painters, Writers, Musicians, Actors...all sources of inspiration for me!
Food, Wine & Cocktails
Locally, I am really loving Alvarado on Main in Old Town Salinas ( I love their chicken wings and a cocktail called The West Egg). Our favorite wine tasting spots in are in Soledad, Carmel by Sea, and Paso Robles. They are Wrath, Hahn, Daou, and Niner. They all make an amazing Pinot Noir.
I believe: Every choice we make is an act of creation.
The people I want most to be proud of me are: Myself, children, and my husband.
Love is: Everything.
Thank you for visiting!
I hope our paths cross, and that I am able to capture your stories and moments with timeless elegance, grace, and with love.
